Akshay Kumar purchases Pro-Kabaddi League team Bengal Warriors

Kolkata: While rumours were doing the rounds for the last couple of days, the Kolkata based Pro Kabaddi League franchise Bengal Warriors, ended the speculations, after they announced their new partnership with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.
The Warriors who have managed to make the semi-finals just once in the past 4 seasons, have undergone a complete revamp of their squad, retaining just two players from last season.This season they have build a strong 18 member side, led by Surjeet Singh and with Jang Kun Lee as their icon player.
The new partnership with the, “Khiladi of Bollywood”, with definitely boost the side’s confidence and inmpose more energy that will help the team perform to their potential.
When asked about his new investment the National award winning actor said, “I have always believed that sport plays a key role in shaping one’s personality and health. I have admired how Star Sports have helped make Kabaddi so popular across the length and breadth of India and I am delighted to partner with Future Group to promote a homegrown sport like Kabaddi.”
Overwhelmed with the new prospect, the team’s CEO Sandip Tarkas said, during the release, that there could not be a better partner than Akshay Kumar, who apart from being known for his versatility is also extremely popular for his fitness regimen.
“The ownership will certainly boost the morale and energy of the team which will help all the players put their best foot forward,” Tarkas said.
With the Pro-Kabaddi League having already begun, Bengal Warriors’ players and the fans alike will certainly hope that a change in ownership will certainly bring a change in their fortune as they aim for their first title in five seasons.
Placed in Zone B the Warriors will begin their campaign against the Telugu Titans at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on August 2.
