Kolkata: The post-derby conundrum seems to continue, with Mohun Bagan lodging an official complaint against arch-rivals’ head coach East Bengal Khalid Jamil of allegedly abusing and spitting on Imran Khan, media manager of the Mariners.
The former Aizwal FC coach had reportedly arrived at the Salt Lake Stadium five hours prior to the scheduled kick-off on Sunday and demanded that the dressing room be opened. However, Khan refused entry citing competition rules, following which the Red and Gold gaffer went on to abuse the Bagan staff using offensive staff. Khan had then in-formed the match commissioner about the incident.
“(Khalid) Jamil wanted to gain access at 8:15 in the morning. When I denied entry, he abused me after which I contacted the match commissioner. Then when the commissioner arrived later in the day, he was allowed entry to dressing room,” said Imran as quoted by Goal.com
Things however did not stop there with Bagan accusing Jamil of metting out the same treatment to Khan, when the latter requested him to attend the post-match conference, following the 0-1 loss to the Green and Maroons.
“Things stopped there. Again, after match I went to Jamil and requested him to attend press conference. But he started to abuse using offensive words. He even went on to spit at me,” added the media manager.
East Bengal in their part refused all such allegations and accused Imran Khan of misbehaving with Jamil. “But what about Khalid’s bag being thrown away?” Said official Debabrata Sarkar.
