India thrash Malaysia to reach Sultan Azlan Shah final

India’s all important match against Malaysia happened to be the showcase of brilliant hockey skills by India for which there was no answers in Malaysian side. It was an emphatic 6-1 win over the hosts which takes India through to the final against Australia.
Al through display of class and authority over the hosts Malaysia was treat for the Hockey lovers today. India took control over the match since the start, putting pressure over the opponents and got the first inroad to the Malaysian goal within the first five minutes. It was Nikkin Thimmaiah who started the proceedings on the scoreboard when he scored off a SV Sunil pass.
It was not very late after the first one that Harjeet Singh scored the second goal to extend the lead off a pass from Talwinder Singh.
The intent of Indian team was evident as the Malaysian team couldn’t match the aggression, speed & skills.
Teams had break with the score 2-0 in favor of India.
Coming from the break India didn’t allow the momentum to slip to other side and Ramandeep scored off a penalty corner deflection to start his account this tournament. And then, Danish scored another one in the 27th minute to take the lead to 4-0. With this score, teams went for half time break.
Malaysia tried to resurrect in the second half as they went for counter attack to do some damage to Indian defense.
However, it was Ramandeep who got a chance to score his second of the tournament. Shahril Saabah scored one in the 46th minute but this couldn’t terrorize the Indian team coz by then they had an unassailable lead over the hosts. Talwinder scored in the 50th minute to mark off a 6-1 victory in the match.
This win takes India through to the finals where they’ll face Australia tomorrow at 6:15 pm IST.
