This year 17 athletes will be honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award by President of India on the occasion of National Sports Day.
Well known Compound Archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam is among one of these renowned athletes.
Born on 3 July 1996, in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh, Jyothi started archery at the age of 11 and won her first Olympic Round Gold medal at the Mexican Grand Prix at the age of 13.

Most of the Indians don’t even know that she also holds the Limca Book of Records. At the age of 3 she crossed Krishna river 3 times with a distance of 5 km in three hours, 20 minutes and six seconds.

Winning 17 medals for India she is the perfect choice for the Award. She was the part of the Indian team that won Gold medal in FISU World University Championship 2016, Bronze medal at Asian Games 2014 and Bronze medal(Women’s Team and Mixed Team) at World Youth Archery Championship 2013.
She also won 1 Silver in Mixed Team event at Universiade 2015, Team Bronze at Asian Championship 2011, Individual Gold and Team Silver at Asian Championship 2015.
