Russia top group after beach soccer showdown against Switzerland

In the last match, Russia and Switzerland brought on a terrific beach soccer showdown to give a final show to spectators witnessing the Euro Beach Soccer League Moscow. A perfect thriller match with fourteen-goals, extra time and penalty shootout, and stunning beach soccer to put an end to this opening Euro Beach Soccer League stage.

The final group topper, Russia seemed to command the game rather comfortably,  to be amazed by Switzerland, coming from 4-0 behind turned the game into a breath-taking beach soccer combat in which one name prevailed over the rest: Dejan Stankovic.

Stankovic took the responsibility in his team, pulling the first back for Switzerland when everything seemed impossible, and scoring up to five goals to have the Alpine giving the hosts a pretty serious unrest and keeping the Swiss team in the game till the end.

A thrilling day of beach soccer with skills at their best of showcasing, the penalty kick shootout seemed the only way to appoint the winner in group 1. Both teams stayed perfect during the regular three shots, but in the sudden-death fourth, Wittlin could not balance things after Romanov’s fired his attempt home. The Swiss ball hit the crossbar and went wide, sending the last point at stake to Russian hands.
