Kolkata: Ahead of their quarter-final clash against defending champions Gujarat in Jaipur, Bengal toiled it out at the Eden Gardens as the team worked on all the three aspects so that they could bring their A game on December 7.
But fielding in all has been a concern for the Bengal team as while they have had some brilliant moments in the field, they have also dropped some crucial catches. Skipper Manoj Tiwary however, said that his team has been working on improving their fielding ahead of the all-important match.
“Fielding is important in all the matches but since we’ve dropped some, we had to work harder on that,” he said.
Bengal has undoubtedly bowled well throughout the competition with the likes of Ashoke Dinda, Mohammad Shami and the young Ishan Porel stepping up on several occasions and doing the job for the team. But the team hasn’t yet decided as to what the bowling combination would be against Gujarat but the skipper said that no matter what it is, everyone has to perform.
“We haven’t yet decided on that (bowling combination). Everyone has their own responsibilities in the bowling unit. We need everyone’s support..All the bowlers worked on their accuracy today.”
After a demoralising defeat at the hands of Vidarbha in the group stage, Bengal did well to bounce back and eventually made it to the knock-out stages from Group D. Thus, after having had a successful end to the group stage, Sairaj Bahutule’s side would gear up for the business end of the competition and the skipper said that the mood in the team is good.
“You could see everyone had smiling faces. Before leaving, we had a good practice today and tomorrow we will have our last practice session here,” Tiwary said.
