Kolkata: CAB President and chairman of BCCI’s Technical Committee Sourav Ganguly confirmed that Pragyan Ojha wouldn’t play for Hyderabad this season as they have refused to give an NOC to him.
“We won’t give an NOC to him as the Bengal cricket team needs him this season,” said Ganguly at the Eden Gardens.
Sources reveal that the Bengal team management does not want Ojha to leave with the BCCI reverting back to the ,”home and away” format for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy,
Under such circumstances, Bengal might prepare a rank-turner at the Eden Gardens where Ojha would be a potent threat to the opposition.
Also, Karnataka opener Robin Uthappa had expressed his eagerness to play for Bengal in the upcoming Ranji season but Ganguly turned down the offer as Bengal already has a talented opener in Abhimanyu Easwaran. Uthappa later signed for Kerala and this would represent them in India’s premier domestic competition.
Ganguly struggles to attend BCCI meeting
Earlier the former Indian skipper had an unpleasant experience of travelling in a train to Balurghat for unveiling his statue and this time, he took a regular yellow taxi to attend a BCCI Technical Committee meeting on Tuesday.
After he left his house, Sourav attended a funeral ceremony but his car broke down on his way to the meeting as a result of which he took a taxi to reach the meeting. “My car had broken down mid way so I had to catch a yellow taxi as the meeting is very important,” he said.
