Kolkata: Indian Super League franchise Delhi Dynamos on Wednesday completed the signing of Dutch winger Jeroen Lumu from Turkish club Samsunspor for the upcoming edition edition of the league.
Praising Lumu’s potential, director of the club Rohan Sharma said, “I can’t express my excitement enough to have Jeroen Lumu be a part of our club this year. He is someone we deeply coveted for a long time and I’m glad we managed to sign him. Lumu has so much potential and has played at a high level in the past. He is going to fit in well with the pace of the team and can be a crucial cog for our side this year,”
The 22-year-old Lumu began his career with the club Willem ll when he was 16 and soon broke into the club’s first team in 2012. He also became the youngest player to score a goal for the club in Eredivisie.
Excellent performances in the Dutch Eredivisie earned him a call-up to the national team, for the U-17 World Championship. It was here where he put up an extraordinary performance for the team.
Following up his good performances, he soon came to the radar of big clubs, like Manchester United and Arsenal.
But he chose, Ludogorets Razgrad playing in the Bulgarian League. He won the Bulgarian Cup and the Bulgarian Super Cup in the same season. Known for his speed and vesitality young Lumu’s will be expected to lead the Dynamos forward line this season.
Talking of the seventh signing of the club for the fourth edition of the league coach Miguel Angel Portugal said, “I am absolutely delighted to have Lumu, in the side. He is quick, skilful and has an eye for goal, everything that you need in a quality attacker. We have tracked him closely for some time now and I am confident that he can light up the ISL.”
