New Delhi: Olympic Champion Canadian Wrestler Erica Wiebe will participate in the second season of Pro Wrestling League (PWL) as she has confirmed her participation in the high- profile event.
Erica Wiebe, who won gold medal at the Rio 2016 Summer Games in freestyle wrestling defeating Kazakhstan’s Guzel Manyurova in the 75-kilogram will be joined by her compatriots, 2014 Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Dorothy Yeats and three-time Olympian Haislan Garcia.
The Canadian has a distinction of winning every individual tournament she entered in 2014, a winning streak of 36 matches, which also included 2014 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal at Glasgow, Scotland.
Wiebe sees the PWL as an opportunity for her and other wrestlers to fine tune their skills and improvise as it will have intense level of back-to-back competition among top wrestlers of the world.
Speaking about the event and the excitement related with it, The 27-year old Canadian said, “I am excited to be a part of the auction for Pro Wrestling League season 2. I have heard so much about India and about the wrestling culture there. No wonder this tournament has become quite an attraction for all Olympic and World Champions around the world to come and participate, something unique that doesnt exist anywhere else in the world.”
