Kolkata: The Champions Trophy is perhaps the most awaited and the biggest cricketing event this year that is going to begin in a few days time and there indeed could have been no better inspiration for the men in blue than to be present at the premier of, Sachin: A billion dreams in Versova.
The initiative, taken up by the Master Blaster himself, saw stars like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli accompanied by girlfriend Anushka Sharma, Yuvraj Singh among the other Indian cricketers grace present at the occasion. The cricketers were in for a great show as they witnessed the making of India’s biggest cricketing hero- from his debut against Pakistan, him hammering the great Pakistani leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, his meeting with Anjali, his first test century to his 100th international ton.
After watching all these, the team showered their praises on the iconic cricketer and thanked him for inspiring and motivating them right before the mega-cricketing event kicks off few days later. Yuvraj Singh, was the first to take to Twitter to thank the ‘God of cricket.’
“At the masters premiere a billion dreams all the best @sachintendulkar” tweeted the stylish southpaw.
Soon his other to teammates followed him as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who emerged as the highest wicket taker in the recently concluded IPL tweeted, “Revived some inexplicable memories today! Attended the premier of Sachin A Billion Dreams, it’s a great story by the great man @sachin_rt.”
India’s middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane wrote, “thank you Sachin Sir for inspiring everyone Indian @sachin_rt.”
Indian opener KL Rahul, who isn’t a part of the Champions Trophy squad too was present at the event and after watching the movie, he couldn’t hide his feelings as he tweeted, “Congrats paaji!Had goosebumps watchin your movie.U always inspire me n ur movie will nw inspire billions! @sachin_rt.”
The biopic of the great man has been directed by Emmy nominated director James Erskine. The movie, which captures the journey of Sachin from a determined 16- year old to becoming the ‘God of cricket’ is set to hit the theatres on the 26th of May. The movie has been declared tax free in Chattisgarh, Kerala and Maharashtra.
India, led by Virat Kohli would begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4 in Birmingham. Truly they couldn’t have asked for a better way of motivating themselves before they travel to the UK to begin their title defence.
