Abhinav Bindra is an Indian professional shooter and a former World as well as Olympics Champion, who represented India since 1998. He specializes in 10 m rifle shooting and brought India its individual gold medal after almost 28 years. Abhinav Bindra is an Indian businessman and a world champion shooter, who has represented his country internationally lastly in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He began his winning trail with the gold medal in 2002 Commonwealth Games and then bagged a medal in most of the significant international championships since then. He became an overnight star after his Gold Medal at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
He started shooting as a professional shooter using air rifle since his childhood and won a few school-level or interstate championships during his teenage. In 1998 Commonwealth Games, Bindra got selected as the youngest participant, but couldn’t win any prize there.
He also became the youngest contestant in the 2000 Olympic Games, where he finished at the 11th position. In 2001, he shone his level-best at the International meets for various shooting competition and he has collected almost six gold medals from those championships.
He got selected for the 2004 Athens Olympics then, but returned with an empty hand this time too, despite some brilliant attempts. In 2008 Olympics, he finally fulfilled his dream of winning gold at the Olympics and became the first individual Indian Olympian to do so.
