Mumbai: India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli may have got many appreciation in his fairly long career so far, but an accolade from former Pakistan captain Imran Khan is indeed a special one for any cricketer. Pakistan’s World Cup-winning captain said that Kohli is better than cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in crucial moments.
“Cricket has had eras. In the eighties, it was Viv Richards, and then you had Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar who stood out. Virat Kohli is one of the most complete players I’ve seen. He’s so versatile; he plays on both feet, and on all sides of the field,” the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) was quoted as saying by national daily Hindustan Times. Khan was sharing his views sitting at his Islamabad residence.
While talking of the temperament, which is an utmost important aspect in any sportsman’s career, Khan put Kohli a notch above the batting maestro. “Apart from his talent and technique, he has a very good temperament. His temperament is better than Sachin’s,” Khan told the daily.
The former Pakistan skipper who has been hailed as one the greatest captains in the history of game also praised Kohli a few years ago when the Delhi batsman was rampaging on field and was en route to the stardom that he currently enjoys. Khan has also been a superb spotter of talent over the years by unearthing many talent in Pakistan.
