PV Sindhu, Rio Games’ silver medalist, didn’t fail to show her honed skills as she surfaced from the back taking down her Chinese opponent Bingjiao with a scoreline of 22-20, 21-10.
Bingjiao is China’s favourite with an uber impressive track record of bagging the Bitburger Open, French Open, Japan Open and Swiss Open – this season in women’s singles competition.
Ajay Jayaram, world No. 23, in men’s singles couldn’t defeat the deadly opponent Chen Long of China- the reigning Olympic champion, two-time World champion and All England champion, suffering a 15-21, 14-21 defeat in a 40-minute clash.
Seventh seeded Sindhu pulled her socks up and decided to own the match, as Bingjiao came on too strong initially taking on a 5-1 lead. Sindhu gave the snarl of a lioness and leveled the game with 17-17 to 20-20.

Bingjiao’s errs costed her the game, PV Sindhu sealed it in 17 minutes after Bingjiao once again hit long.
On the other hand, Saina, seeded fourth limped her way out of the Rio Games and didn’t satiate the audience with her China Open performance, but 21-yr-old Sindhu doesn’t fail to impress.
She will take on the winner of the match between Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi and sixth seed Sung Ji Hyun, seeded sixth.
