Indian Cricketer Vijay Laxman Manjrekar is recalled for his sublime cut and hook shots while batting. India, under the great Vijay Hazare, was on a tour to England in 1952. Manjrekar, on June 5, 1952, scored 133 and added 222 runs with captain Hazare (89) to bail India out from a 3/42 situation in the first innings of the first test, at Leeds.

With their partnership, India went on to score 293 in the first innings. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi

Former Indian Cricketer and Captain Mohammad Mansoor Ali Khan Siddiqui Pataudi is recalled as the youngest Indian captain of yesteryears. India, under him, was on a tour to England in 1967. Pataudi, on June 12, 1967, scored 148 and added 134 runs with Hanumant Singh (73) as India would finish with 510 in their second innings of the first test, at Leeds.

India couldn’t win or draw this match as they had managed just 164 from their first innings against 550/4 of England when the hosts had declared their first innings. Tiger Pataudi would go on to score 6 centuries and 16 half centuries from his 46 match career.

Dilip Vengsarkar

Indian Cricketer Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar is recalled for his drive. India, under the great Kapil Dev, was on a tour to England in 1986. Vengsarkar, on June 21, 1986, scored 102 not out as India would end their innings at 237 in the second innings of the second test, at Leeds. The visitors had scored 272 in the first innings. Ganguly, on August 23, 2002, scored 128 and added 249 runs with Sachin Tendulkar as India moved from 3/335 to 4/584 in the first innings of the third test, at Leeds.

Rahul Dravid

Former Indian Cricketer Rahul Sharad Dravid is recalled for his sublime cut and straight drives while batting. India, under the Captain Sourav Ganguly, was on a tour to England in 2002. Dravid, on August 22, 2002, scored 148 and added 170 runs with Sanjay Bangar (68) & 150 with Sachin Tendulkar in the same match that would see Sachin and Sourav also scoring tons, at Leeds.

With these partnership, India went on from 1/15 to 3/335 in the first innings. Dravid’s innings got recorded in the list of first 6 Indian batters with Test 100 at Headingley Cricket Ground. Rahul Dravid would go on to score 36 centuries and 63 half centuries from his 164 match test career.

Sachin Tendulkar

Indian Cricket Legend Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is recalled for his exquisite cover drive, and back-foot punch while batting. India was playing against hosts England in the third test of the test series in 2002. Tendulkar, joined Rahul at the fall of Sanjay Bangar’s wicket and added 150 runs with him when Rahul Dravid was stumped over a ball from Giles. Sachin continued on and added 249 runs with Captain Ganguly, scoring his ton in the process on August 23 before ending his innings on Day 3 at 193 (August 24), at Leeds.
