Mumbai: Indian limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been duped by Australian sports gear company of over Rs 20 crore. Even after retiring from Test cricket in 2014,Dhoni remains one of the highest paid athletes in world of sports.
It has been learnt that a three-year bat and sponsorship deal worth Rs 13 crore has gone sour with Australia-based Spartan Sports, a sporting gear and equipment company, regularly defaulting on payments.
Arun Pandey, boss of Rhiti Sports that Spartan Sports have violated the contract and defaulted on payments.
“Everything is not smooth and hopefully the matter will be resolved soon,” he said.
Spartan has been endorsed by many International players such as Michael Clarke, Chris Gayle, Mitchell Johnson and many other reputed cricketers in the past.
Rhiti Sports are planning to take legal action against the Australian company Spartan.
Spartan boss Kunal Sharma remained unavailable for comment despite calls and messages sent to him.
