Kolkata: Newly appointed head coach Ravi Shastri would earn a whopping ₹7 crore every annum. Shastri’s huge salary would exceed the remunerations received by the earlier coaches. Former coach Anil Kumble, who despite having had good success with the Indians before stepping down from the post, received ₹6.25 crore per annum.
As a matter of fact, the salary for all the support staff would also be hiked very soon and Shastri would have the power of selecting his support staff.
Former coach Anil Kumble during his tenure had written to the board demanding a hike in the players’ and support staff’s salaries. However according to sources, the members of the support staff would be given contracts which would clearly segregate between the do’s and don’ts. Among the don’ts, no member of the support staff would be allowed to hold a contract in the IPL.
