This is the 1st Slam played in the tennis calendar every year. The Australian Open is played in January at the famous stadium known as Melbourne Park in the city of Melbourne. The tournament has a history of 114 years as it was started in 1905. The event is played on hard courts.

The finals of the Australian Open are played at its most decorated court named as the Rod Laver Arena after the Australian tennis legend Rod Laver. Other important court in the tournament is named after Margaret Court and is known as the Margaret Court Arena.

Novak Djokovic has been the most successful Champion at the Australian Open in the Open Era winning the tournament 7 times. Roger Federer and Roy Emerson have also dominated the tournament 6 times each. In the Women’s section Margaret Court has won the Australian Open a record 11 times.
