Kolkata: While the cricketing fraternity of India is engrossed in the glitz and glamour of the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL), the fans will have something more to cheer for as Sachin Tendulkar has confirmed the date of the release of the trailer of his biopic Sachin – A Billion Dreams. Tendulkar took to Twitter and Instagram to confirm to the world that the trailer would be released on the April 13, 2017. The movie is directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures while AR Rahman has scored the music.

“Come experience my journey on and off the 22 yards. #SachinTrailer releases tomorrow at 7 PM,” wrote Tendulkar. Interestingly, early last year, the makers of the film had released a snippet of 59 seconds giving subtle hints of what to expect from the movie. Earlier this year, Tendulkar took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to announce that the film would be released on May 26, 2017. “The answer to the question that everyone’s asking me is here. Mark your calendars and save the date. @SachinTheFilm releases 26.05.17,” Tendulkar wrote on his official Twitter page.

The biopic shall portray the rise of Sachin as a small boy with dreams and his journey to become the God of Cricket and the most celebrated sportsperson in India. The biopic will be the third based on an Indian cricketer in the span of a year. The other two being M.S Dhoni : The Untold Story and Azhar. The two had contrasting success at the box-office. While the former was a resounding success, Azhar bit the dust. Both the biopics captured the lives of MS Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin, on the pitch and off it too.

This is what will intrigue the fans even more. Even though Tendulkar had an international career spanning around 24 years, there are still many areas of his personal life, which the world does not know. From 1989 to 2013, Tendulkar kept on entertaining his fans on the field. However, all these years, he always maintained his privacy. The world knows who Tendulkar was on the pitch, but this movie will give us an insight into who he was off it.
