The badminton birdie vs. a tennis ball is a comparatively light and low mass. Therefore the badminton racket is relatively light, weak, and flimsy. Tennis balls are struck with great ferocity, the serves hitting 140 mph in the pros, slowing down little and being returned with nearly as much force. Conversely, birdies due to their flared tails slow considerably and have little forward speed or momentum when struck. The birdies are quite low mass, so little energy has to be imparted to it even though striking velocities can be high. Another difference between badminton and tennis rackets.
