Today we’ll talk about Cricketers who grabbed the most wickets at Cricket World Cup 1999. Unlike earlier World Cups, the bowlers had a better time in the office during the World Cup tournament of 1999. Geoff Allott led the list of most wicket-takers followed by Warne, MacGrath, Klusener & Mushtaq – who had kept the batsmen under control even during slog overs of the match.

Saqlain Mushtaq – Pakistan
Saqlain Mushtaq was considered as one of the best spin bowlers in the history of cricket and Pakistan. He had pioneered a unique leg-break delivery with off-break action and it was called doosra.
Saqlain Mushtaq bowled remarkably well and he became the first Pakistani bowler to take a hat-trick against Zimbabwe during World Cup ’99. He finished 5th on the list of the Cricketers with most wickets at Cricket World Cup 1999 as he finished with 17 wickets.
Lance Klusener – South Africa
Klusener was a popular all-rounder of South Africa. He hit the ball hard when he gave baseball-style backlift to his bat while playing and his impressive fired-up seam bowling remained a powerful weapon for South Africa during the World Cup ’99. His efforts could have won World Cup for South Africa but he was unfortunate to get run out at the last minute.

He won the Man of the Tournament award for his effortless batting and his effective bowling when he took 17 wickets in the tournament. Finished 4th on the list of the most wickets at Cricket World Cup 1999.
Glenn McGrath – Australia
Glenn McGrath remains one of the greatest fast bowlers of Australia. He had maintained the accurate line & length throughout his career. The way he looked at the batsman during his spell with a wry smile on his face that always made the batsman nervous.
During World Cup tournament McGrath bowled economical spell and made the opponents struggle for every run. He remained in the list of top bowlers with 18 wickets in the pocket. Finished 3rd on the list of the most wickets at Cricket World Cup 1999.

Shane Warne – Australia
Shane Warne was as popular off the field as much as he was popular on the field because of his controversial lifestyle. But during the game on the field, he showed his temperament and his control over the ball. His performance during a match against South Africa was outstanding when he took the four main batsmen Gibbs, Kirsten, Cronje & Kallis out to take his team into the final.
And in the final, he helped his team bowl Pakistan out for mere 132 runs and the rest was the history. Warne remained on the top in the best bowlers’ list with 20 wickets in the tournament. Finished 2nd on the list of the most wickets at Cricket World Cup 1999.
Geoff Allott – New Zealand
Geoff Allott was a very effective bowler who always tried his tricks while keeping the batsmen under control. He became the top wicket-taker of the tournament with his prodigious movement and his mystic left-armer that always had deceived many great batsmen during the play.
