Profile | Dusan Tadic is the frontman of Erik ten Hag’s revolution at Ajax for the last two years. Having made his name in the Eredivise with FC Twente, Tadic had a couple of hot and cold years with Southampton before he moved back to the Dutch league with giants Ajax. It is here that Tadic has shone in a new and rejuvenated squad featuring the likes of David Neres, Frankie de Jong, de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech. While Ajax lost a couple of the above-mentioned players to bigger clubs in the summer, they have managed to keep the core of the team at the Amsterdam Arena. Tadic forms a lethal partnership up front with Neres and Ziyech, one that put 4 past Real Madrid and 3 past Juventus in last year’s Champions League showdown. Tadic is known for his positional sense, quick feet and fluid play on the counter. In fact, it is Ajax’s counter-attacking threat that took them past Real and Juve and almost Spurs. Fantastic exchange play, quick off the mark, Tadic makes up for his lack of physical presence with other critical qualities. Tadic represents Serbia in national colors and fared well in the World Cup in 2018 in Russia. Dusan Tadic is part of the new breed of strikers that don’t recognize themselves as target men, but as sprinters who keep opposition defenders on their toes. He is wanted by a number of European big names like Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich but seems to be focused on working with ten Hag at Ajax for the time being.
