Profile | Gagan Narang is an Indian Shooter, who represents India in men’s air rifle shooting since 2003. He is a bronze medalist at the Summer Olympics in 2012. He started taking his shooting career seriously since 1997 and began practicing shooting with an air pistol at his home. After participating in the national-level shooting competitions, Narang began his international career with the Afro Asian Games in 2003. He participated in 10M air rifle event at that competition and won a gold medal. His gold medal at the World Cup 2006 made him a superstar and the achievements at the 2006 Commonwealth Games literally escalated his honor in this field. Narang has a glorious win history at the Commonwealth Games since then and clinched more than 7 gold medals from this single international championship over years. He has a similar level of success at the Commonwealth Championship as well with 8 gold medals and 4 silver medals. He has a quite disappointing result at the Olympics, where he appeared for 4 times in the Summer Olympics since 2004 but grabbed only one bronze medal so far. However, his other international wins are enough to make him an international sensation at the men’s shooting category. |
