Profile | Hima Das is an Indian female track and field athlete, who represents India internationally since 2018. She is an Asian Games gold medalist in women’s 4×400 m event. Hima was born in a farmer family at Assam and initially loved to play football. After realizing that it is impossible to pursue a career in football as a woman, she moved her focus to the distance running. His coach Nipon stated in an interview that Hima runs like the wind and this quality has increased the trust of her country upon her. She first came into the limelight after her win in the Under 20 World championship in 2018 in the individual 400 m category. She took part in the Commonwealth Games in the same year but couldn’t win any medal and finished sixth in women’s 400-meter event. However, this failure couldn’t break her determination and she came back with sheer power in her very next attempt in the same year. Hima took part at Asian Games in August 2018 and won a silver medal in that championship. Very recently, she appeared in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix championship in July 2019 and clinched a gold medal in the women’s 200m sprint event. She has pursued the 12th-grade exam recently from Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and considered one of the youngest successful athletes of this country at present.
