Profile | Jitu Rai is an Indian shooter, who represents India at the international level since 2014. He is an Asian Games and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, who currently ranked as the 4th best shooter in the world in 50 meters pistol event. He also competes in the 10 meters air pistol event and holds the ranked of the 3rd best shooter in this world. After completing his professional training, he participated in 2011 National Games competition and represented UP at the national level in this championship. He made his international debut with the ISSF World Cup in 2014 and ended up at 2nd place by winning a silver medal in 10m air pistol event. He also won a silver medal at the 50m air pistol category in the same championship and became the first Indian to win two medals at a single world cup for his country. In the same year 2014, he participated in the Commonwealth Games for the very first time and competed in the 50 meters air pistol category. Rai won his first gold medal in this championship and made a record by scoring 194.1 points in this category. He kept his winning trail uninterrupted in the Asian Games happened in the same year and bagged 1 bronze medal in 10m air pistol event as well along with the gold. In 2016, he took part in ISSF World Cup again and clinched a silver medal in 10m Air pistol category. He successfully qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics but couldn’t clutch a single medal in this championship, unfortunately. However, Rai back with a bang in the 2018 CWG championship and won a gold medal in men’s 10m air pistol event by setting a whole new record in this category.
