Profile | Joseph Abraham is an Indian track and field athlete, who represents India at the international championships since 2017. He is one of the top 10 best athletes of India of all time and a gold medalist in Asian Games. Joseph was born in Kerala and became an athlete in 2003. He came into the limelight for his record-breaking performance in the National Interstate Championship in 2006. On 13th Federation Cup Athletics Championship, he has clutched a gold medal and surpassed his own previous record with his best performance. In the very next year 2007, he won a silver medal in the Asian Grand Prix Circuit Athletics and made a new national record in 400m event with the duration of 49.52. In 2009, Joseph was qualified for the Berlin World Championship and won a silver medal in the Asian Championship in 400m hurdles category. In 2010, he won a gold medal at the Asian Games in 400m hurdles category and became the first Indian sprinter to do so. He won several bronze, silver and gold medals in his athletics career, but his record during the 2007 World championship made him world famous overnight. At present, he serves the Indian railways under sports quota. Joseph is under strict training session currently of his coach Rajinder Singh and been preparing for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
