After playing a few junior championships, he participated in Malaysia Open in 2002 and started making his mark in the international badminton . After this, in his first ever Olympic appearance in 2004, he got a moderate success rate and had to wait 2 more years to make his mark deeper in the world badminton field accurately. In 2006, he won the Swiss Open Asian Badminton Championships and began his victory ride uninterruptedly since then. Gradually he became the No. 1 badminton player in the world with his amazing playing techniques and lists of record in 2008. Lee wasn’t the first Malaysian player to achieve such prestigious rank, but he is definitely the rare one, who held the title for more than one year! He became a triple silver medalist at the Olympic Games and one of the most successful Malaysian badminton players in Commonwealth Games.
