Profile | Liam Plunkett is an English cricketer, who used to play for all formats of the game but currently appears in the limited overs formats only. He represents the Surrey team at domestic level and played for Durham as well as Yorkshire teams in the domestic circuit. Plunkett got his first highlighted chance in domestic cricket in 2003 with Durham, after finishing his primary cricket training. He smartly utilized his first break and became the leading wicket-taker of that tournament for the club’s academy squad. After that, he had been continued his domestic cricket career with country championship consecutively in 2006 and 2007. At that time, Plunkett kept improving his bowling skill progressively with his every match. Then, he helped the Durham squad to win their first ever country championship in 2008 with his shiny wonderful contribution as an all-rounder. His back to back success in the domestic field got him a golden opportunity to enter the national England team. In 2005, Plunkett was entitled to ODI and test teams jointly for England and started playing for the national team since then. He has an ability to hustle the batsman with his mechanical pace bowling style with an absolute front-on action. This talented England bowler has seen some rough pitch in his career after get involved in drink and drive case in 2006. From 2007, Plunkett had been suffered from irregularity due to long suspension and injuries. After being absent for a long while, he had a chance to redeem his loss with the selection of 2017-2018 Australian tour. He used this opportunity very well and continues his career in international field since then progressively in shorter formats of the game. However, he isn’t playing the running IPL tournament but successfully named for the England World Cup squad for 2019. |
