Profile | Shiva Keshavan is an Indian Winter Olympian, who won has participated six times in Olympics. Keshavan is a gold medalist for Asia Cup. He started skiing from a very early age and began his career with the Junior National Championship in 1995. Keshavan honed his skills by participating in several school-level luge camps during his teenage. After winning a few interstate championships, he got selected to represent India at the Winter Olympics in 1998. With this, Keshavan became the youngest athlete to represent his country & continent at the Olympics at the age of 16 only. He has an Italian mother, for which, Keshavan got some opportunity from Italy as his professional backup. In 2002, he got an offer from the Italian Luge team to join their clan and got full training facilities from their country. Keshavan turned down that offer for his love for India and chose to represent India instead of Italy at the international level. He ended his Olympic journey in 2018 with the sixth and final appearance where he came at 34th position among 40 contestants. He runs a training camp in India since 2009 for young athletes, especially for the winter games. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh)(Profile Image from Facebook) |
