Profile | Simona Halep is a Romanian professional tennis player, who has been playing tennis internationally since 2006. She has been ranked as No. 1 by the WTA ranking for 64 weeks, which is a record itself. She started playing tennis at the age of 4 and began taking professional training since she was six. She played in junior ITF tournament and won Junior Grand Slam title with her brilliant potentiality. She won many junior championships and made her way in the international field at the age of 17. With her hard work, she entered in the list of World’s top 50 female tennis players within just 6 years and gradually reached the top position with 5 more years. Making Justine Henin as her inspiration, Simona plays as an attacking baseliner and known as a ‘scrappy player’ from Romania. She is regarded for her counterpuncher style and good all-court movement. She is an expert in cross-court hit and down-the-line flat shots. Apart from tennis, she is extremely fond of football and totally passionate about the Romania national team.
