Profile | VVS Laxman is a former Indian cricketer and currently a cricket commentator, who has represented Indian internationally from 1996 to 2012. He was a top-middle order right-handed batsman, mostly known for his several match-winning innings and match-saving performances. He is one of those rare top-rated batsmen, who haven’t played a single world cup match in his two-decade-long career. He used to play first-class cricket during his domestic days for the Hyderabad team. Laxman has played a few significant domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy, Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, County Championship, etc. during his domestic days. His performance constancy soon led him to the Indian national team and he made his international debut in 1996. Laxman made his international debut with a test match in that year and ODI debut in April 1998. Soon he became a dependable batsman and a regular member of the Indian national cricket team with his batting consistency. He is an aggressive batsman, who mostly praised for his fluid style, a sheer technicality in shots and using of wrist-power in a hit. Laxman is also known for his handle pace & wrist work and the Slip-fielding. His is totally skilled in off-stump position and always play with a high-elbow as well as steady stance, which made him an expert of the test format. He is currently one of the members of the elite three-man panel that contains three legendary Indian cricketers.
