Kolkata: After a season with Shillong Lajong FC, Aser Pierrick Dipanda Dicka is all set to play in the black and whites in the upcoming CFL. The star forward, who was the leading goal-scorer from last season of the I-League is all keen to focus on putting up a strong show with a revamped Mohammedan Sporting Club in the CFL.
After the Calcutta league is over, Dicka would be seen wearing the Mariner’s shirt in the I-League. But as of now, he has his focus grounded in the CFL. “I am now focused on doing well in the CFL. After this I move to Mohun Bagan but now my focus is on this tournament,” said Dicka while speaking to SportsCrunch on the sidelines of a press conference in the city on Thursday.
However, Dicka isn’t a new face in Indian football. In the 2015-2016 season of the I-League the striker had netted seven goals in 11 appearances playing for DSK Shivajians. In the last I-League season, the Cameroonian led the scoring charts with 11 goals to his name representing Shillong Lajong FC.
When asked as to how he landed up with a contract with the Black Panthers, he said, ” When I played for DSK last year I had returned to my country after the season had ended. But after this season, Mohammedan Sporting contacted me and said that they wanted to sign me for Calcutta Football League. The I-League season had ended a long time back and I also said to them that I didn’t want to stay for a longer time. So I had a talk to my agent and the deal was finalised.”
Although he was on song in the last season of the I-League emerging as the league’s highest goal-scorer with 11 goals, his team didn’t play well as a unit as they ended at the fifth position with 26 points to their name.
When asked as to what his personal target is for this season, Dicka said, ” I am targeting to be the leading goal-scorer as well as win the trophy.”
The 28-year old Cameroonian who idolises countryman Samuel Eto’o says that he wants to enjoy his stint with Mohammedan Sporting Club and wants to win the CFL for them.
“I want to enjoy my time with Mohameddan Sporting and want to the Calcutta League with them,” said a determined Dicka, who is very crucial to club’s chances of adding a silverware to their trophy cabinet and also to regain their lost pride and glory.
