Today we bring you the 25 players featuring in DC Squad for IPL 2021. The Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals made to the top 2 finish in 2020 edition of the cash rich league; though their first Indian Premier League title eluded them. The Arun Jaitley stadium based side have previously won tournament titles in 2010, 2011 & 2018, here we talk about 24 players of DC Squad for IPL 2021 who’ll try to win them their maiden title.
Manimaran Siddharth
Chepauk Super Gillies Left-arm Spinner M Siddharth made to the DC Squad for IPL 2021 after he was picked by Shreyas Iyer led team during the auctions. Siddharth has represented Tamil Nadu team in Domestic Cricket and been playing the Tamil Nadu Premier League as well. He’s still to make to the playing XI of any IPL match and would be hoping that with the Arun Jaitley Stadium based outfit.
Lukman Meriwala
Baroda left arm medium pacer Lukman Iqbal Meriwala made to the DC Squad for IPL 2021 and may debut in the Indian Premier League. The medium pacer was the highest wicket-taker of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2013-14. Meriwala is among the new additions to the team as he was picked by the Delhi Team management during Indian Premier League 2021 auctions.
Vishnu Vinod
Kerala Wicket-keeper Batsman Vishnu Vinod is another young domestic cricketer who made to the DC Squad for IPL 2021 through the IPL auctions in February. The Opener would expect the season to have some exciting opportunities for him.
Ripal Patel
Gujarat Cricketer Ripal Patel made to the DC Squad for IPL 2021 through the IPL auctions on February 18. The all-rounder Ripal Vinubhai Patel would like to sneak to a strong Delhi Playing XI for the upcoming season.
Avesh Khan
The Madhya Pradesh Pace Bowler debuted for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League. Khan has had an average Indian premier league stint but he would like to redeem his luck this season to get as many games as he can.
Pravin Dubey
The Karnataka leg break bowler joins DC Squad for IPL 2021 through the IPL auctions and would be expecting to get some chances come his ways to be a long term replacement of the veteran Amit Mishra. Dubey would also like to use this time to learn the tricks of trade from the champion leg spinner.
Lalit Yadav
The Delhi All-rounder would like to fancy his chances at the T20 tournament as one of the rare local finds for the Delhi based team. Yadav is part of the DC Squad for IPL 2021 but unlikely that he would get many matches this season.
Sam Billings
The England WK-Batsman has played in various leagues across the globe and will be a part of DC Squad for IPL 2021 as well as the Kent was picked by the National Capital based side during the season’s mini-auction. Sam Billings would like some chances come his way as he would have to compete with the recent favorite of World Cricket, Rishabh Pant to get a match.
Tom Curran
The England All-rounder would be part of DC Squad for IPL 2021 as well. Tom was part of Rajasthan Royals in previous season and was released before the auctions. With the Delhi side, he can be one of the key players to their campaign for the maiden title despite being in good runs for two seasons now.
Umesh Yadav
The India International Fast Bowler could be key to Delhi’s plan this summer as the Shreyas Iyer team would like to rotate their players to effectively use them for the season. Yadav was part of the Royal Challengers last season. Yadav would like to use the upcoming edition to make his way to the Indian Team which has recently got some real good medium pacers.
Ishant Sharma
The Indian Test Cricketer would like to help himself with good performances in Indian Premier League to force his way to the limited overs team of India. Ishant Sharma has tremendous experience playing with and against players of different nationalities and could be the necessary addition to the Delhi Think Tank. As a Front Row test bowler for India, Ishant Sharma has recently completed his 100 test matches.
Steve Smith
The Australian current generation heart-throb was captaining the Rajasthan side last season, but poor season for the team and lack of performances from Steven Smith resulted in him being released by the SMS stadium based outfit. His team, Australia, had recently lost the test series to the visiting Indian team in one of their poor performances at home.
Anrich Nortje
The Proteas pacer was one of the star performers for the GMR Group team as the team landed close to their maiden title, though conceded it to Mumbai Indians. Delhi would be hoping a similar performance from the bowler, in fact the South African duo. Nortje was among the top 5 wicket takers of the 2020 season and the JSW Group side would like a repeat of that performance this summer as they would expect a slightly better finish this season from the team.
Kagiso Rabada
Proteas pace bowler Kagiso Rabada is the pace spearhead of the Delhi Capitals team and this season looks no different, despite the fact that he would have Umesh Yadav as the second or third seamer in the pace department. Rabada led the wickets table last time and that confidence he would like to replicate this summer as well.
Amit Mishra
The Delhi Legs Spinner would be a key member of the DC Squad for IPL 2021 like previous seasons. Mishra, on song, has been the lead wicket-taker for the Delhi side and with Ashwin in the team, there’d be a pair that opposition would fear from.
Axar Patel
The Left arm Spinner and lower bat would try to carry forward his successes with Indian cricket team to the tournament as a member of DC squad for IPL 2021. Patel has had some successes in the pervious season as well, but his exploits with the Indian test team has changed everything and he is seen as a match winner now.
Ravichandran Ashwin
As a member of DC squad for IPL 2021, the Champion Off-Break bowler would be key to Delhi’s strategy this season. Ashwin would be coming off a great international purple patch as an all-rounder and he would like to prove some points as a limited overs cricketer.
Chris Woakes
The England All-rounder would like to sneak into the playing XI of Delhi team this season. He’s been part of the DC squad for IPL 2021 but with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje & Marcus Stoinis doing well means he gets less chances.
Marcus Stoinis
The Australian all-rounder has been among the top performers of the Delhi side and upcoming season looks no different as he will be a key member of the DC squad for IPL 2021 as their campaign unfolds on April 10.
Shimron Hetmyer
The West Indies Cricketer would like to cement his place in the DC squad for IPL 2021 unlike the 2020 season when his performances were more non-existent than helping the team in the tournament.
Rishabh Pant (Wicket-Keeper & Captain)
The Wicket-keeper batsman has already become a sensational cricketer in Test format and would like to force his way into the limited overs cricket with a good IPL season. He has to compete with KL Rahul who was the lead scorer of Indian Premier League 2020.
Ajinkya Rahane
The Maharashtra Cricketer making to the Delhi Capitals playing XI is less probable but the amazing fielder, that he is, is waiting for some good performances under his belt to relaunch his limited overs cricket career.
Prithvi Shaw
The Mumbai Cricketer started off well as an under-19 cricketer but inconsistency is getting over the talent that he portrays as an Opener. He would like to change some perception that’s formed after him getting out to wicket-to wicket deliveries.
Shikhar Dhawan
The Delhi Cricketer was also among the better performers for the Delhi Capitals team in Indian Premier League 2020. He scored the two centuries of his IPL career in 2020 edition and he would like to expand his purple patch to the 2021 edition as a key member of DC squad for IPL 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan would be key to Delhi’s performance this season as good opening stands would mean Delhi winning more matches and Dhawan becomes important visavis that.
Shreyas Iyer
The Delhi Captain would like to extend the performances of Indian Premier League 2020 to the upcoming edition as the team is still searching for their maiden IPL title. The top-order batsman has been a regular of Indian teams for limited overs cricket. Delhi Capitals is among the few teams who have never won an IPL tournament and this is a history that Iyer would like to change this season.
Phase 2 in UAE, Changes in DC Squad for IPL 2021 :
Due to corona outbreak in India, the season was stopped post Match number 29 and all the remaining matches were shifted out of India to be held during September-October at UAE. With the changes in season schedules, there were withdrawals and new additions to the squads. Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals, however, incurred just one change with Chris Woakes withdrawing to make way in for Ben Dwarshuis of Australia in the Phase 2.
These were the twenty four players who make the squad of Delhi Capitals for Indian Premier League 2021 season. Hope your liked the content; don’t forget to put in your thoughts & questions as comments.
