Growing up with WWF-WWE, I felt Mark Callaway aka The Undertaker was always as young as ever. The WWE Legend is the all time favorite wrestler of my father & brother. It is tough for his fans, but the time has come for this living legend to walk away from active sports career, after 27 years with WWE. When he was leaving his hat, trench jacket and gloves on the mat it was all tears all directions.
With the dramatic entrance of the sound of death, lights off, the bell of church it looked like that the dead man is walking on the stadium. Today is the day of talking about his legend, so I will not talk about this remarkable wrestler losing his last match to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 33. Lets pay tribute to this living legend who gave all these years to WWE.
After over a quarter of century, the greatest gimmick of death is put to rest. He turned to look back at 75000 crowd before raising his fist for one last time. 27 years is a long time and has indeed flown by like the click of seconds. In all these years Undertaker entertained us by taking soul out of other wrestlers and make them rest in peace. Broken bones, fractures and injuries were part of his life and once I saw him get engulfed in flames. Despite those second-degree burns, Undertaker finished the match in style.
It was the character drawn by Callaway that made us realize that Undertaker is the real one. More than anything Callaway made Undertaker relevant by modifying the attire and experimenting with look. There were people who never wanted to 21-0 streak to be broken but it was never the fate.
The back-to-back matches, wins and Wrestlemania was nothing without Undertaker and the legacy wasn’t confined to just that. It was an aura walking before and after him. I don’t wish anyone to replace him as for me he was the one and all. Name the game like Hell in a Cell or table match Undertaker has taken all that to be on the wrestling ring. He is not leaving WWE he is leaving a legacy behind him.
