Today we talk about Cricketers with the most runs in Cricket World Cup 1987. After conducting three World Cup tournaments consecutively in England, it was for the first time that the World Cup tournament was held jointly in India & Pakistan. The Cup was sponsored by one of the most successful companies in India – Reliance Industries of Dhirubhai Ambani.
The format of the tournament remains the same, except for the number of overs of the match, which were reduced to 50 over. The eight teams that participated in the tournament were divided into two groups and played 27 matches including semifinals & final. Australia defeated England in the final match at Kolkata by merely 7 runs in a nail-biting finish. It was Allan Border’s Australian team that had emerged as the winners of the Reliance World Cup.
