His team, Chennai Super Kings, under MS Dhoni, won their first title, defeating the Mumbai Indians in the final of the tournament edition.

During the season Jacques Kallis hit 572 off 16 matches including 6 fifties. His season average was 47.66 and strike rate was 115.78. His best from the season was 89 not out.
His team, Royal Challengers, reached the semifinals but couldn’t go beyond as they finished at 3rd in the tournament table.
