Kazan: 2016 South Asian Games gold medalist Chirag Sharma finished 25th in Taolu Men’s Gunshu event at the 14th Wushu World Championship 2017 here at Kazan, Russia.
Chirag scored 9.07 points, which was not enough for him to land inside Top 20 positions.
Korea’s Yonghun Lee won Gold medal by scoring 9.70 points while Indonesia’s Achmad Hulaefi and Taipei’s Chen Ming Wand won Silver and Bronze by scoring 9.68 and 9.67 points respectively.
In Gunshu event, a player uses staff as the main element to show martial arts skills. The word Gunshu came from Chinese word Gun which refers to a long Chinese staff weapon used in Chinese martial arts. It is known as one of four major weapons, along with the qiang (spear), dao (sabre), and the jian (sword), called in this group “The Grandfather of all Weapons”
