Today, in this article, we discuss the Delhi Capitals Team 2020. Delhi Capitals, earlier known as Delhi Daredevils, have always been good on paper. And yet somehow they have been unable to replicate that success on the cricket field. Along with Royal Challengers Bangalore, they have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the history of this franchise based league with very few qualifications for the playoffs berth.
However, when two of the greatest cricketing minds, Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting took charge of the affairs, a sea change was noticed among the players and the other support personnel. Delhi qualified for the playoffs last year but was eliminated, unfortunately. This year too they will be strong contenders for the trophy with a balanced team and a more methodical approach to their gameplan.
Batsmen
Led admirably by Shreyas Iyer, the youngest captain in the tournament, Delhi Capitals Team 2020 have some of the brightest prospects of Indian Cricket in their team. In Prithvi Shaw, they have a mountain of talent to showcase on the International stage.

With Shikhar Dhawan at the top giving him company, Prithvi would be guided by a man who has had his fair share of highs and lows in International cricket. Ajinkya Rahane, one of India’s best batsmen till recently falling out of favor, would be the reserve opener for the Delhi Capitals Team 2020. Thus it proves how strong a reserve bench the team is having this time around.
All Rounders
Delhi has roped in Marcus Stoinis who is expected to set the stage alight both with the bat and ball in hand. His international experience and playing in several top T20 leagues across the world hold him in good stead as the first choice premium all-rounder of the Delhi Capitals Team 2020.
Although in his absence there is Shimron Hetmyer who can strike the ball a fair distance and can keep the scoreboard ticking. Hetmeyer has been in incredible form throughout the last year and would be a valuable addition to this Delhi Capitals Team 2020 down the order.
The Indian all-rounder slot would be taken up by Axar Patel, a handy left-arm spinner who can strike the lusty blows when required. Moreover, Axar’s accurate economic bowling helps control the game in the middle overs.
Bowlers
It’s the Delhi Capitals Team 2020 bowling department that is capable of dismantling any opposition systematically. They have one of the best bowling attacks in the tournament with Kagiso Rabada spearheading the pace battery. Rabada’s pace would be a worrying factor for any opposition batsmen.
To give him the company would be the upcoming West Indies fast bowler, Keemo Paul. Paul’s pace is up in the high 140’s and will create problems even on the slow pitches of UAE. Anrich Nortje has also been roped in as the third fast bowler. This trio would be a formidable proposition for the batsmen facing them.
Among the tweakers, Delhi Capitals Team 2020 have India’s very best in Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin’s guile and his thinking mind would be something that Shreyas would look to pick. Delhi Capitals would also have the option of using Amit Mishra, one of the most successful bowlers in this format with a knack of picking wickets at regular intervals.
Although he is way past his prime, his experience of playing this tournament would be useful for providing inputs. Delhi would also be having the option of playing Indian veteran pace bowler, Ishant Sharma.
Wicketkeeper
India’s current limited-overs wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant would be a vital part of this Delhi Capitals Team 2020. Although Rishabh’s inconsistency is something that has been much talked about in the media, we all know the kind of hitting prowess and sheer brute strength that he can unleash when called upon. His explosive batting ability has been showered with praise from all corners.

Close on his heels would be the explosive Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey who is emerging as one of the fine batsmen in limited-overs cricket.
