Today we bring you the 25 players featuring in KKR Squad for IPL 2021. The Eoin Morgan led Kolkata Knight Riders ended their 2020 Indian Premier League season at 5th as they were nowhere close to the title contention. The Eden Gardens based side have won the tournament twice as they look forward to their third title, let’s see who are the 25 members of KKR Squad for IPL 2021.
Venkatesh Iyer
Madhya Pradesh All-rounder Venkatesh Rajasekaran Iyer is another domestic cricketer to become a member of KKR squad for IPL 2021. The all-rounder was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders at his base price 20 Lacs Indian Rupees. Indore born Iyer has been part of the state team since 2015.
Vaibhav Arora
The Himachal Pradesh Medium Pacer Vaibhav Arora would be a member of KKR squad for IPL 2021 as he will be seeking his debut match in the Indian Premier League. Arora was picked at the base price of 20 Lacs Indian Rupees during the mini-auction this season. Vaibhav was part of his state’s side at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament this season. He debuted in the limited overs domestic cricket in 2021.
Sheldon Jackson
Puducherry Wicket-Keeper Batsman Sheldon Philip Jackson would be a member of the KKR squad for IPL 2021 as he will be seeking his debut match in the Indian Premier League, though he is seen as the third wicket-keeper of the team, thus limiting his chances of debut. With Dinesh Karthik, the senior most among the wicket-keepers of the team to play most of the matches Jackson would be under tremendous pressure to perform whenever he gets a chance.
Rinku Singh
Uttar Pradesh Batsman Rinku Singh is a part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021 as he will be seeking a chance to better his statistics at the Indian Premier League, though he has a tough competition to get inside a very strong batting unit.
Varun Chakravarthy
The Kolkata based side has kept the bowler who shone during Indian Premier League 2020, in KKR squad for IPL 2021. The leg-spinner had picked 17 wickets from 13 matches during IPL 2020 as he was one of the top performers of the team.
Sandeep Warrier
Kerala Medium Pacer Sankarankutty Sandeep Warrier was picked by the Shah Rukh Khan owned side during Indian Premier League 2019, though he is also among the cricketers who are looking for chances to prove their mettle. Warrier picked 2 wickets from 3 matches in IPL 2019. He came IPL fold on the base of his Ranji Trophy performance as he picked 44 wickets from 10 matches for his home team Kerala.
Prasidh Krishna
Karnataka Pace Bowler Krishna would continue to feature in the KKR squad for IPL 2021 after being picked by Juhi Chawla co-owned side during Indian Premier League 2018 auctions. Prasidh picked 10 matches from 7 games in his debut season, but could pick just 4 wickets each in the nest two edition. Krishna would like to better his performances in IPL 2021 though he’s get limited chances in presence of Lockie Fergusson & Pat Cummins as the first pair followed by Shivam Mavi & Kamlesh Nagarkoti who have done good in the T20 tournament.
Pawan Negi
The Delhi Left arm orthodox bowler Pawan Negi has already been part of the IPL Cricket and has played for several seasons. His performances during IPL 2017 was his best IPL tournament performance as he picked 16 wickets from 10 matches for RCB. Negi, who didn’t get a game in IPL 2020, will be part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021. The Eden Gardens based side picked him at the cost of 50 Lacs Indian Rupees during the auctions.
Ben Cutting
Australian All-rounder Benjamin Colin James Cutting has been part of Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals & Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League tournament. Cutting would like to better his performances in the tournament as he will be part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021 season and the Brendon McCullum coached side would look for some outstanding all-round performances by him.
Karun Nair
The Karnataka right handed batsman Karun Kaladharan Nair scored second test triple hundred for India. Karun has been playing IPL since 2013 as he scored 300 plus runs during IPL 2016 & 2018. Nair was part of Kings XI Punjab team during IPL 2018-2020. Karun Nair is among the eight players picked to be in KKR squad for IPL 2021.
Harbhajan Singh
The Former Indian Off-break bowler has been as old to the Indian Premier League as the tournament be. Bhajji has previously played for Chennai Super Kings & Mumbai Indians. Harbhajan had opted out of the IPL 2020. The Eoin Morgan led side picked him to be part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021 season. He and Varun Chakravarthy could be the off-leg spin pair the Kolkata side would be looking for to reach close to their third title.
Shubman Gill
The Punjab Cricketer came off the U-19 set up of Indian Cricket, was one of the key performers for India during the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2018. Gill scored 440 runs in the IPL 2020 season including three fifties. Gill would be an importance part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021, as he showed in 2020 season. With some good performances like to in International Cricket, Gill would like to extend his good run back to the cash rich league as well.
Nitish Rana
Delhi left-handed batsman Nitish Rana has scored 300+ runs in IPL 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 and he would like to take this to 500+ in the upcoming edition as a part of KKR squad for IPL 2021. Rana has been playing all matches in the season and he’s settled well into the tournament format already, though the team would expect more contributions from him as they seek their third title.
Tim Seifert (WK)
New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert will be among the cricketers who are looking for their debut match this season. Tim could be the opening partner to Gill in the upcoming season though it is still to be seen whether he’s play as a batsman or wicket-keeper batsman.
Rahul Tripathi
Jharkhand Cricket Rahul Tripathi was another batsman who showed some great batting during Indian Premier League 2020. Tripathi would be part of the KKR squad for IPL 2021, though he would like to contribute more with his bat this season.
Dinesh Karthik (WK)
Tamil Nadu cricketer and former KKR captain could do the finishing acts in Indian Premier League 2021 as the team would depend a lot on this senior pro if they have to go close to their IPL title dream this season. Karthik’s best came in IPL 2018 when he would score 498 runs with two fifties.
Andre Russell
West Indies all-rounder had one rare bad season in Indian Premier League 2020. Russell would like to get back in the groove as a key performer for the Eden Gardens based side during IPL 2021. Andre Russell scored 500+ runs in IPL 2019 and picked 11 wickets as well during that season. KKR would expect that season be repeated for their star performer this season.
Sunil Narine
West Indies mystery spinner and makeshift opener has been doing well for the West Bengal based franchise, though he would like to up his wicket numbers in Indian Premier League 2021 season. Narine is one of the mainstays of KKR bowling unit and they’d depend on him this season as well.
Kuldeep Yadav
The left arm Chinaman has been an important part of the team in Indian Premier League and that should be the case for the upcoming edition as well. Kuldeep would like to force his way to the Indian international team on the back of some awe-inspiring performances in Indian Premier League 2021.
Pat Cummins
Kangaroo Pace Bowler Pat Cummins picked 12 wickets from 14 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders during the Indian Premier League 2020. He had contributed with bat as well and scored a 50 during the season. Cummins, however, would like to perform like 2017 when he picked 15 wickets from the season, or better, to help his team to better finish this season.
Lockie Ferguson
New Zealand Fast Bowler looked the cricketer who could better the team performances of Knight Riders in IPL 2020, but he couldn’t get those many matches to actually try doing that. He picked 6 wickets including a 3 wicket haul in 2020 and that should make the team management give him more matches this season as a member of KKR squad for IPL 2021.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Barmer born Kamlesh Nagarkoti has a hat-trick to his name in Vijay Hazare trophy. Nagarkoti looked good in his debut IPL season in 2020, but he needs to bowl more wicket-taking deliveries to be one of the key members of KKR squad for IPL 2021. The Fast bowler picked 2/13 as his best performance of the season.
Shivam Mavi
Another fast bowler, another one who came from the U-19 Cricket, Shivam Mavi picked 10 wickets from 8 matches in IPL 2020 while he took 13 from 9 matches in IPL 2018, his debut season. Mavi should be ready to take the next leap to be among the top wicket-takers of the season and thus push his way to the International cricket.
Shakib Al Hasan
The Bangladesh All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been among the top all-rounders in world cricket. Shakib has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad & Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League. The all-rounder will be part of KKR squad for IPL 2021 season as he could bring the balance in lower middle order that Kolkata has been seeking for past couple of seasons.
Eoin Morgan (c)
The England Limited Overs captain was made captain mid-season during IPL 2020. Morgan would like the KKR squad for IPL 2021 to end as tournament winners like the squad for IPL 2012 & 2014, something which Gautam Gambhir led the team to. Morgan would like to take some cues out of Gambhir’s captaincy and be looking to add performances to his bat as well during the season to inspire their dream finish.
Phase 2 in UAE, Changes in KKR Squad for IPL 2021 :
Due to corona outbreak in India, the season was stopped post Match number 29 and all the remaining matches were shifted out of India to be held during September-October at UAE. With the changes in season schedules, there were withdrawals and new additions to the squads. Kolkata had just one withdrawal and they added replacement. The change is listed below:
