Today we bring you information about the KXIP players eligible for mid-season transfers. Kings XI Punjab has truly been the perennial underachievers in the history of the Indian Premier League. Despite having the strongest contingent of overseas and domestic talent over the years, Kings XI have lacked the firepower and intensity required to go all the way and win the coveted IPL trophy.
They have shown occasional sparks of brilliance in the batting department but their collective unity has always let them down. Although the team did go all the way to the final having put a brilliant total of over 200 on the board against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 with Wriddhiman Saha scoring a magnificent hundred in the final, KKR was able to chase the score down in one of the finest run chases in the tournament’s history.
This time as well Kings XI are dangling in the lower half of the points table and following is the list of KXIP players eligible for mid-season transfers-
Mujeeb Ur Rehman (Afghanistan)
The Afghan Spin Sensation had been a revelation in the last few seasons picking up wickets in numbers and stemming the flow of runs in the middle overs. His accurate bowling and distinct variations would be very difficult for the batsman to read, making him a very difficult prospect for the opposition to negotiate. However, a sudden dip in form accompanied by conjectures regarding his bowling action has considerably reduced his effectiveness.

Moreover, his variations have now become easier for the batsman to read and the upcoming leg-spinners like Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin have taken his place as the two premier spin-bowling options for the Punjab side. Thus he has featured for the side in a very few matches and has been carted to all corners of the ground in most of them. There is a high chance that he might be eligible for a mid-season transfer to some other franchise in the tournament. Among the KXIP players eligible for mid-season transfers.
Ishan Porel
This Indian fast bowler who came through after a sensational performance in the Indian Under 19 World Cup Campaign has been sidelined with injury for a considerable period. His accurate bowling and his ability to generate express pace and bounce earned him rave praises from past Indian bowling legends.
However Ishan has not been able to live up to the billing and with King’s campaign going through a small phase of recovery after a disastrous few matches which left them at the bottom half of the points table, it is quite evident that the team would not like to include the pacer in their future scheme of things. Thus there is a chance that he might try his luck for some other franchise where his gifts would be better utilized. Among the KXIP players eligible for mid-season transfers.
Hardus Viljoen (South Africa)
Another South African fast bowler who had impressed everyone with his quick bowling and ability to generate speed, Hardus has been completely ignored by the franchise. Punjab has tried out various combinations going with Sheldon Cotrell who initially earned them dividends. However, his inconsistent performances forced the team management to drop him owing to the team combinations.
They brought in Chris Jordan in his place to accompany Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh in the pace bowling department and to significantly improve their death bowling options, an area due to which they lost a majority of their contests. However, Hardus has been warming the benches since the beginning of the innings and has not been tried out till now. Thus there is a high chance that he might change allegiance. Krishnappa Gowtham
With Glenn Maxwell going through a lean patch, Kings XI felt the absence of an impactful all-rounder who could win matches from difficult positions. They tried to fill up the vacancy created by including Krishnappa Gowtham in the scheme of things. However, Krishnappa’s limited prowess with both the bat and the ball and his hitting ability which is nowhere near that of Maxwell was not enough to turn the tide for the King’s XI side. Thus he might be traded in the mid-season. Among the KXIP players eligible for mid-season transfers.
