Today we bring you the 24 players featuring in RR Squad for IPL 2021. The Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals had a change of guard after their dismal performance at 2020 Indian Premier League as they finished 8th in the 8 team competition. The Sawai Man Singh Stadium based side have won the tournament once, in the inaugural edition, and since then they’re searching for the way to reach that level. Let’s see here the cricketers who are part of the 24 members of RR Squad for IPL 2021.
Kuldip Yadav
The Delhi Medium Pacer would like to impress the team management of the Pink City based Franchise. Yadav was picked during the season’s auction to be part of the RR squad for IPL 2021, though it will be interesting to see how he fits in the team. The team this year looks strong and whether he gets a chance during the tournament edition or not will depend on a lot of things.
Akash Singh
The Rajasthan Left-Arm Medium Pace Bowler is another young turk coming from the U-19 system of Indian Cricket as he would be among the Cricketers looking for their debut match as a part of RR squad for IPL 2021. Akash was picked during the auctions this year by the Lachlan Murdoch’s team.
Chetan Sakariya
Saurashtra Left-Arm Medium Pace Bowler will be another cricketer this season seeking his debut match in the cash-rich league. Sakariya was picked by the Jaipur based team to be part of the RR squad for IPL 2021 season. The Ranjit Barthakur’s team picked him for 1.2 Crore Indian Rupees in the auctions and he could be seen playing along the likes of Jofra Archer & Mustafizur Rahman.
KC Cariappa
The Bengaluru Leg-Spinner played for Vijaypura franchise of Karnataka Premier League (Bijapur Bulls) & Kings XI Punjab & Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League. Cariappa is among the eight players added from the auction to RR squad for IPL 2021. The Manoj Badale’s team had to spend 20 Lacs Indian Rupees for this purchase. Cariappa would like to impress the team management at nets to push his way into the playing XI.
Anuj Rawat
The Uttarakhand born wicket-keeper batsman is part of RR squad for IPL 2021 as well. Anuj was picked by the Shane Warne mentored side during the Indian Premier League 2020 auction. It will be however interesting to see if he finds a slot in the playing XI, given the team captain is a wicket-keeper batsman.
Mahipal Lomror
Rajasthan All-rounder Mahipal Lomror was previously with Delhi Capitals before picked by Rajasthan team in Indian Premier League 2019 edition. Lomror has since played a few matches here and there, managing to score a 47 in the 2020 edition. Mahipal would expect more chances this season as all-rounders are new flavor to the 2021 season.
Mayank Markande
Punjab Leg Spinner Mayank Markande picked 15 wickets in 2018 edition of Indian Premier League but would get only 3 games in 2019 season. Markande was part of the Rajasthan team in IPL 2020 but failed to get any game. With change of guard of the team Mayank would expect some chances come his way to prove his potential as a Bowler with the RR squad for IPL 2021.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
The Man of the tournament at the ICC U-19 World Cup 2020, Yashasvi Jaiswal played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 but wouldn’t get many chances in this star studded team. With the change of captain post the dismal outing in the season, there are chances that he would be the regular opener this season as a member of RR squad for IPL 2021.
Jaydev Unadkat
The seasoned left arm medium pacer would find it difficult in presence of first choice fast bowling pair of Archer-Mustafizur to get some opportunities come his way, but being in the trade for long may earn him some chances in the season as a senior member of RR squad for IPL 2021.
Shreyas Gopal
The Karnataka all-rounder started off his career with helping his state team win Ranji Trophy 2013-14. Shreyas picked 20 wickets in IPL 2019 and followed it with 10 wickets in UAE in 2020. With IPL being back to India this season, he can be one of the key performers of the RR squad for IPL 2021.
David Miller
The South African middle order batsman had two back to back 400+ runs seasons in IPL 2013 & 2014 and post that he hasn’t scored runs consistently in Indian Premier League tournament. David Miller would find difficult, on the base of his performances in IPL cricket recently, to get a game in the popular cricket tournament. He’s a member of the RR squad for IPL 2021 as well after being picked by the side in 2020 season.
Manan Vohra
Chandigarh’s Opening batsman Manan Vohra showed promise in the second season he was playing in Indian Premier League. He would score 324 runs from 8 matches in IPL 2014, but would vanish among the overseas and India international players for other seasons, except in 2017 when he scored some runs. The Right handed batsman would expect a better season and a season of value to his career as a member of RR squad for IPL 2021.
Kartik Tyagi
The Hapur born cricketer is another product of Indian U-19 set up. Tyagi idolizes Brett Lee and that shows in his bowling stride & run up. Tyagi was impressive in his debut season for Rajasthan Royals, in IPL 2020, picking 9 from 10 matches. The right arm pacer would like to continue with exploits as a part of RR squad for IPL 2021.
Riyan Parag
The Assamese Right handed batsman scored a couple of crucial knocks for the Jaipur based team in Indian Premier League 2020 and people would see him doing Bihu dance after performance innings, something that went viral. Parag has shown promise, but needs to capitalize on chances to be a permanent member of RR squad for IPL 2021, in fact permanent inside the playing XI.
Rahul Tewatia
The Haryana all-rounder was one of the key all-round performers during Indian Premier League 2020, a season when he would take wickets and score some crucial knocks for his team. Rahul Tewatia would expect more responsibilities up hi sleeves, especially in batting, as a key member that he has become of the RR squad for upcoming season.
Andrew Tye
The Western Australia pace bowler has been with the Rajasthan based franchise of this T20 tournament since 2018 edition. Tye was the purple cap winner in IPL 2018, and is expecting a similar tournament edition since then. He could be a key member of the 3-man pace attack of RR squad for IPL 2021 with Jofra Archer & Mustafizur Rahman being the other two; the only trouble for any such pace trio appearance together is the fact that only 4 overseas players are allowed and Chris Morris & Jofra Archer are the most obvious choices of inclusion in the playing XI.
Liam Livingstone
England Opening Batsman Liam Stephen Livingstone could be the opening partner of Yashasvi Jaiswal at the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League, though there are so many potential “best XI” to pick for the matches, something which is good to have, but can give headache to Sanju Samson, the first time captain this edition. The Perth Scorchers batsman would back his odds to have his IPL debut this season though.
Mustafizur Rahman
The Bangladesh pacer may be the prize intake Rajasthan Royals did this season as someone who has experience at the subcontinent pitches and is among the top left arm seamers of the world currently. Rahman is supposed to feature as much as possible in the playing XI of RR squad for IPL 2021, if RR want to stop opposition batsmen from stealing the show in the matches.
Shivam Dube
The Mumbai All-rounder can be a future superstar of Indian Cricket, though he couldn’t steal the show for the Bangalore based franchise of Indian Premier League in 2019 & 2020 seasons. Shivam Dube was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team this year and could be one of the choices in a team which has Ben Stokes, Chris Morris, Rahul Tewatia & Shreyas Gopal as allrounders, something that strengthens the RR squad for IPL 2021.
Chris Morris
South African All-rounder could be the necessary inclusion this season for the Rajasthan Royals as they would seek inspiration in the team to better their Indian Premier League records. The Inaugural season’s champions have been since then searching for the tournament win that may justify the talent pool they possess. Christopher Henry Morris, the most expensive cricketer of the IPL 2021, has his tasks cut out for the season.
Jofra Archer
The pace bowler has been sensational since he came into reckoning. Someone who could extract extra pace off the pitch at all kind of wickets, Jofra Archer has become an integral part of any team he plays for and the RR squad for IPL 2021 would be no exception. Archer picked 20 wickets in a “bad” season for his franchise, you can expect the impact he possess.
Jos Buttler
The England WK-Batsman is in tremendous form this season as his T20I performances against India suggests. Plus, these performances are in India making him a certainty in a playing XI for the Pink City squad. Jos Buttler could be opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal this summer with Skipper Sanju Samson coming at number 3.
Ben Stokes
The England All-rounder would be another senior player in the team that the RR team management would like to take more responsibilities this season. Ben Stokes has been a revelation of late, but his IPL figures are little below what he is actually capable of. In the best case scenario, Stokes, Shreyas, Morris, Shivam & Tewatia would balance the things up for the Sanju Samson led RR squad for IPL 2021.
Sanju Samson
The Indian wicket-keeper batsman has got a challenge to push his chances into the Indian Cricket team with a favorable season as a batsman & captain. Sanju Samson has to compete with the likes of Ishan Kishan who just had a wonderful debut and Rishabh Pant, who has bettered both with bat and wicket-keeping gloves recently. A tournament win with him landing at the top of run scoring would be something Samson would be looking for this season and he has the necessary resources which if he handles well, can fulfill his dreams.
Phase 2 in UAE, Changes in RR Squad for IPL 2021 :
Due to corona outbreak in India, the season was stopped post Match number 29 and all the remaining matches were shifted out of India to be held during September-October at UAE. With the changes in season schedules, there were withdrawals and new additions to the squads. Royals had a few withdrawals and they added new players. The changes are listed below:
Withdrawals | Addition |
---|---|
Jofra Archer | Glenn Phillips |
Andrew Tye | Tabraiz Shamsi |
Jos Buttler | Evin Lewis |
Ben Stokes | Oshane Thomas |
These were the cricketers who make the squad of Rajasthan Royals for Indian Premier League 2021 season. This is it for today! Hope your liked the content; don’t forget to put in your thoughts & questions as comments.
